#EndSARS: Flavour, Phyno accused of collecting N78m from Ekweremadu

Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has accused music entertainers, Phyno and Flavour of collecting the sum of N78 million from Ike Ekweremmadu, the former Deputy Senate President, to tarnish his image.

The accusation was levelled by an aide to the governor on Media and Public Relations, Comrade Stanley Ezediuto.

Ezeduto said that both singers were paid by Ekweremadu to use the EndSARS protests to campaign against the governor.

“We are aware of the gifting of a huge sum of N78 million to Phyno and Flavour to campaign against the governor of Enugu State in the ongoing #EndSars protest nationwide by Senator Ike Ekweremmadu. But we are warning against hijacking of the protest by strange characters for political reasons. Enugu State Government has lived up to expectations and the governor will continue to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.

“Ike Ekweremmadu should not use this opportunity to castigate the working government of Enugu State through Phyno and Flavour for his 2023 guber aspiration. If he fails to desist from so doing, we shall remind him of the many abandoned projects in his constituency which should be of major concern to him. These revered artistes should not allow themselves to be used against the peaceful state of Enugu,”he warned.

Reacting to the allegation, Flavour’s brother, Benjamin, said that the singer participated in the protest the same way other musicians did.

“It means that all the celebrities that participated in the #ENDSARS protests also collected money from the politicians. That’s what the allegation implies. So, in this case, you just have to use your common sense,” he said.

“Why Federal Government Needs To Regulate Social Media” – Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has no plan to shut down social media.

The Minister in his statement on Saturday in Lagos noted that the Federal Government respects freedom of the press.

He, however, stated that the current administration has plans to regulate social media and avoid it from being used for fake news and hate speech.

He said:-

“We did not at any time say that we will shut down the social media.”

“Social media has come to stay and it will be an attack on democracy to shut it down because it is the fastest way of passing out information all over the world.”

“However, it must be regulated to avoid it being used in a manner that it becomes a supplier of fake news and hate speech.”

“Also, we will not fold our arms to allow suppliers of fake news and hate speech to use social media to throw the country into chaos.”

#EndSARS: We Thought We’re Going To Die – Police Survivors

Security operatives were also victims in the recent #ENDSARS protests which turned violent.

In Lagos State alone, six policemen according to police authority lost their lives, 38 others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the mayhem that saw several police posts torched.

Policemen attached to the Lagos State Police Command, have described the moment hoodlums ambushed them under the guise of #EndSARS protest as a moment they would ever live to remember.

The victims said they were still in shock as to the level of anger and hatred for the police by young Nigerians.

They said the day started for them just like every other working day, but assumed a frightening dimension before noon.

Inspector Imole Gbenga, attached to the state anti-crime outfit, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), said he thought he was going die when the vehicles conveying them to their various duty post ran into some arsonists at Adekunle bus stop, on Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba.

Gbenga said the hoodlums, who were armed with dangerous weapons, attacked their convoy.

According to him, the attackers approached the convoy from all sides, making it almost impossible for them to defend themselves.

“I thought I was going to die when one of the hoodlums hit me on the head with a rod,” he said.

The Area Commander, Area “J” Police Command Lagos, ACP Olugbemi Gbolahan, also gave a bit-by-bit account of how he sustained a fatal injury when one of the protesters in Lagos ran over his leg with a car.

The unfortunate incident, he explained, occurred penultimate Tuesday during the protest in the Ajah area of the state.

“I was on ground to personally monitor and provide security for the protesters when the accident happened. I was saved by divine grace. The injury would have been more devastating if not for God’s intervention.

“My brother, it was God that saved me, I would have lost the leg if not that I was wearing a boot.

“The driver just aimed at my leg and crushed it. As I fell down, I quickly turned off and rolled to the other side of the road. If not, the leg would have been condemned.”

Sergeant Ellah Michael, who also survived the mayhem on October 13, said he and other policemen attached to Oshodi-Tapa police post were trying to protect the unit from being attacked by hoodlums, when the group swooped on them.

“The protesters intentionally besieged the police formation which was being used by SARS operatives before the disbandment.

“It has since been taken over by the operatives of Adeniji Adele Division in compliance with the IGP’s directive and closure of all SARS offices including satellite ones across the state by the Commissioner of Police Lagos State,” he added.

I had good guidance from my mum. She was able to build a reputation for herself in Nollywood. Once anybody knows I’m Rita Daniel’s daughter, they can’t walk up to me and say rubbish.

Besides, I have a limit to which I play (with people). I don’t give anyone the opportunity to come too close to say whatever they have in mind. That is how I have been moving forward.

Nigerian Lady Recounts How Her Sister Died After They Were Both Kidnapped And Raped

A Nigerian lady took to Facebook to narrate a scathing experience of rape and kidnap she and her late sister were victims of.

According to Talking Esther, the incident occurred 2 years ago after they went to get diesel. She described it as the “longest night she will ever experience in her life” as it was full of torture, horror, pain and tears.

The lady who disclosed that she narrowly escaped, said her sister wasn’t so lucky as she didn’t survive the torture they were both subjected to.

Esther recalled being in coma for 8 days over the incident which left her father broken.

She wrote:

2 years ago I and my sister was kidnapped
Some of my friends might know her…
We went to get diesel and a lot happened that night. That was probably one of the longest night I’ll ever experience in my whole life.. It was full of torture, horror, pain, and tears

I remember I was raped!!!
Yes rape! Don’t give me that look
I couldn’t do a thing, just nothing but cry, plead and wail ..
They did same to my sister and I couldn’t do a thing… I just sat there with a gun on my head.. I failed in my duty as a big sister

I pleaded with them to let us go but no
I passed out at some point
We were assaulted (the picture below)
My sister died
She didn’t survive the whole torture
I escaped by a hair’s breadth
My dad was devasted ( looking at his once vibrant daughter bleed from.the nose and ears with wounds all over her head, her neck almost broken, a tooth gone and worst still she lay in coma for eight days)
My family cried blood and tears

But at the end God pulled me through
I reclined into my shell
I was a funny person but I became more that was to hide my pain and scars from the world .

I found out I couldn’t be like this forever
I couldn’t stay in the dark forever
I came out and continued making friends but still when I walk in there dark and see guys behind me I still run.
You can’t blame me you know

So here I am today alive, making memes and cracking jokes on Facebook but broken
Most times I wake up all sweaty and afraid
Nightmares don’t cease
I cry myself to bed
Only my pillow knows my pain..

The most pain is that I can’t even keep a relationship … One minute am good and happy and the next I don’t even know who I am again..

Why am I sharing this?
It took me a lot of courage to really come out…
The pain never goes!
Put your sisters in her shoes before you think or raping or assaulting anyone
They’re never the same after that
The pain lasts a lifetime
